Souleymane Traore, 18, and Maximus Jean Jerome, 19, are behind bars following the investigation into a robbery late last month involving three other people.
The incident was reported at around 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 23 at the Taco Bell in the 8600 block of Colesville Road in Silver Spring.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, three men were confronted by Traore and Jerome inside the restaurant, leading to a physical altercation that rapidly escalated.
After Traore and Jerome exited the restaurant, the former went back inside and held the victims at gunpoint, and when the brother of one of the victims arrived at the restaurant and attempted to intervene, it is alleged that Traore put the handgun to the head of the victim’s brother and fired one round, causing a graze wound to his head.
The two then fled the scene. The shooting victim was treated and taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Traore was charged with attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. Jerome was charged with multiple counts of second-degree assault.
The Silver Spring residents are being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
